Anyone can be an Idol

San Salvador Home for Intellectually Disabled Women and Sally's Workshop held an Idols competition on Wednesday last week.

Aspiring singers from the two non-profit organisations, which support mentally and physically disabled persons, competed for the winner’s crown, singing from a selection of popular songs.

Just as its namesake, the competition was embraced with open arms by the participants, many of whom dressed up for the occasion, and who launched into heartfelt performances to the delight of the audience.

The spectators participated through singing, clapping and dancing in support of the aspiring artists.

San Salvador is home to 60 intellectually disabled women over the age of 18 years. Sally’s Workshop is a subsidiary of San Salvador Home

providing work and skills training for some 80 intellectually and mentally-challenged adults.
