Pothole-riddled road in need of repair

THE condition of Sutherland Avenue, Sandhurst was raised at a meeting with delegates of Ward 90 and city council decision makers.

The meeting was orchestrated by Ward 90 councillor Gordon Mackay, who was particularly concerned about the speed at which vehicles drove on the pothole-riddled road. He said the road was badly deteriorating where St Andrew’s Road merged into Sutherland Avenue.

Dries van den Heever, regional manager of Region B said the road was increasingly being used as a back road to surrounding areas, and had not been made to handle the heavy load of traffic it now carried on a daily basis.

He said city council did regular maintenance work in the Sandhurst area and would be attending to the upkeep of the road, following Mackay’s concerns.
