Redhill pupil receives taekwon-do colours

MORNINGSIDE - Redhill School pupil Liam Olivier was granted junior national colours from the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee for his performance in taekwon-do.

Olivier has put in significant time and effort to get to this level – at least nine hours a week – which is over and above the school activities he participates in.

He did exceptionally well in the 9th Global Taekwon-Do Federation World Taekwon-do Championships, despite tough competition from participants from Russia, Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Scotland, Argentina, Ukraine, Moldova, and Kahzakstan, to name a few. He achieved a gold and a silver medal and placed third overall in the competition, based on all black belt medals earned.
