Condolences pour in for late MEC
JOBURG - South Africa mourned the death of Gauteng Economic Development MEC Nkosiphendule Kolisile who died in a head-on collision in the Free State on 20 July.

South Africa mourned the death of Gauteng Economic Development MEC Nkosiphendule Kolisile who died in a head-on collision in the Free State on 20 July.
He died along with his driver and bodyguard Constable Tshepo Jobo and Sergant Tebogo Motsei respectively.
Messages of condolences poured in from around the country.
Transport Minister Dipuo Peters said the tragic passing of MEC Kolisile and his protectors was a monumental loss, not only to the people of the province of Gauteng, but the nation as a whole.
“We were still expecting the MEC to continue to make positive contributions to the ANC led government’s efforts to create a better society,” she said.
She further called on every road user, motorist, passenger and pedestrian to take personal responsibility for road safety.
Proudly South African CEO Advocate Leslie Sedibe said South Africa lost a disciplined cadre who dedicated his life to serve humanity with humility and selflessness.
“He was committed to the struggle against poverty and improving the living conditions of the poor and marginalised and the development of young entrepreneurs in Gauteng.”
He said Kolisile was a proud South African who would be remembered for his excellent track record in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
“He was always willing to listen to the views of others even if he did not necessarily share the same ideological stance of his opponents,” he said.
Acting Government Communication and Information Systems CEO and cabinet spokesperson, Phumla Williams said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time of bereavement. Kolisile served our country with excellence, dignity and integrity and he will be sorely missed.”
The Gauteng Executive Council expressed their heartfelt condolences to the families, relatives and colleagues of the deceased.
The Gauteng Cabinet reiterated that they would take collective responsibility for the Economic Development portfolio to allow for proper mourning.
The memorial service will be held at the Joburg City Hall on 24 July at 12pm.
Condolence books will at the City Hall, the family home, the Department of Economic Development and the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
