Library refurbishment prolonged

The first ever refurbishment of Sandton Library may take longer than initially expected.

THE proposed Sandton Library book sale has been postponed and will now be held on 19 and 20 July.

The sale was originally scheduled for 5 and 6 July. However, the Bryanston Library will be holding their sale on 6 July.
Friends of the Sandton Library chairman Keith Elliott explained that the sale had been moved forward by two weeks because it was found that the standard of polished finish on the wooden floor, where the book sale is held, was not of the high standard required. “The whole area has to be scraped and polished again before it will be deemed acceptable,” said Elliot.
He said the refurbishment was well underway. “I was at the library this morning and the old floor surface was being removed. This should be completed within the next few days.”

The Bryanston Library book sale will be held between 9.30 and 12.30 on 6 July at the library off Payne Road in Bryanston. Vicky Broad from the Friends of the Bryanston Library said everybody is welcome and book donations are always appreciated.
