We took to the streets to find out what residents think about Valentine’s Day. As expected, sentiments were contrasting with some pro the occasion with others vehemently against it. Here is what they had to say …
AUBREY MAKHELA: I don’t think much of Valentine’s Day because I’m always in trouble with the girls in my world.
SIFISO SIBEKO: It’s something to be celebrated. I never celebrated it previously, but since everybody else is, I decided that I might as well. On the day, my girlfriend and I will be indoors celebrating with a bottle of wine.
NICCI VAN LINGEN: My girlfriends’ are all single and so we’re planning on throwing a singles party at a restaurant. We’ll have dinner and whack the daylights out of a piñata. You can still celebrate love even if you’re single.
DANIEL PRETORIUS: I like Valentine’s Day. I don’t think it should be a holiday, but I still think it’s something worth celebrating.
BEV COUNILAN: I think, at the end of the day, we move past it as being a commercial thing and just have fun and express love. For me, it will involve a glass of wine and a nice dinner. I’m also considering sneaking something into my partner’s bag as a surprise.
PETO TEZAPI: I don’t really celebrate it, especially because I don’t have anybody with whom to celebrate it.
