THOMAS SEBAKE: If we don't fight the police and co-operate with them, they won't be aggressive.
MALIEN VAN DER MERWE: It’s not right even though I personally haven’t experienced it.
GAVIN LOCHEN: Although I haven’ t personally experienced it, my brother did. Even after reporting it to the police nothing came of it.
RAY FOUCHE: Many times the media will report on police brutality but fail to report on the actions that led to the brutality. In the case of Mido Macia, the media failed to add that Macia looked for trouble, he did not listen to the police and the police could not even get him into the police van.
NTSIKELELO BONGA: The Department of Policing is a bit too chilled about it. Every time you hear about a police brutality case, you never hear about what happened to the officer, yet they are constantly ‘looking into it’.
FREDDIE WESSELS: It’s definitely not acceptable, however crime is so high in South Africa and it is difficult to say how police should react.
CHRISTA HERBST: It’s shocking, the police are not doing what they are supposed to be doing.
PRINCE MAHASHA: What the police fail to understand is that people have rights, they, of all people, should be abiding by those rights.
