Woman held hostage by boyfriend in Marlboro

JOBURG - A woman was held captive for a day in her boyfriend’s home in Marlboro.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley Police said the woman’s boyfriend visited her at her home in Alexandra and asked her to go with him to his home in Marlboro.

“When she refused to go with him, he beat her and threatened her with a firearm,” explained Maphakela. He said the man forced the woman to go with him and he locked her up inside his house.

Maphakela said the woman was only released the following day. “The man told the woman he was going to kill her if she told anyone that he threatened her with a firearm,” he added.

Maphakela said the woman was terrified of the boyfriend but reported the incident at the Bramley Police Station eventually. The man was arrested by the police and will appear in court soon.
