Business woman becomes life member

SANDTON - Master Builders Association North has bestowed honorary life membership on one of its pioneers and stalwarts.

Eunice Forbes, was the first woman to be president of Master Builders Association North (then Gauteng Master Builders Association) and also the first to be president of Master Builders South Africa.

Sandton-based Forbes was president of Gauteng Master Builders Association from 2004 to 2006, and president of Master Builders SA from 2007 to 2009.

In awarding honorary life membership to Forbes at its annual general meeting, Master Builders Association North North noted:

q Forbes’ more than 36 years’ business management experience, particularly in owner-managed concerns across a broad

spectrum of service industries

  •  Her skills in lateral thinking, analytical decision-making, skilful negotiation and effective business strategy and entrepreneurial acumen
  •  Her proven track record for product and business development
  •  Her flexibility and innovation in adapting and applying knowledge and experience to different circumstances and environments and
  •  Her ability to work well under pressure and in deadline situations.
  • The fact that she can effectively handle several and diverse projects simultaneously was also noted.

Forbes, owner and managing director of a leading sport surfaces supplier, has or still holds membership and executive positions in an impressive range of professional bodies. A camp fighter for equal rights for women and disabled people, Forbes served on the National Disability Task Team on behalf of Business Unity South Africa.

Her tireless work in cementing ties between Master Builders Association North and its counterparts in the rest of Africa is particularly noteworthy and led to the African body’s executive bureau meeting in South Africa for the first time in its history.
