Benmore gives more for Madiba

BENMORE - Benmore Gardens shopping centre was very busy on Mandela Day as staff, guests and visitors contributed 67 minutes of their time in honour of Madiba.

The centre’s Big Bin Food Collection initiative, together with Afrika Tikkun, saw schools and businesses help the public fill a 6 cubic-meter bin with non-perishable food items that would go to vulnerable and hungry families around Gauteng.

It was also an opportunity by e’Pap staff members to prepare food, in 67 minutes, that would be taken to Alexandra to feed the underprivileged people in the area.

“Mandela Day inspires ordinary people to change the world for the better,” said Afrika Tikkun communications manager Nancy Chimhandamba.

“We are grateful for Benmore Gardens’ charity. The food collected, some 10 000 items, will be distributed to families in need to fight off the hunger this winter,” she added.
