Abandoned baby found in Marlboro

A NEWBORN baby was found abandoned on the streets of Marlboro on 29 January.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police said the baby girl was found crying at the corner of 3rd Avenue and 4th Street. “She had a hospital name tag around her foot,” he said. “Her name is Midlis Changwa, she was born on 29 January 2014 at 1.20pm.”

He said the baby was born at a hospital in Alexandra. “At the hospital, the police found the mother’s file and went to the address she listed as her home address. When the police arrived at that house, there was no one who knew her or the baby,” said Maphakela.

He said the baby was found in good condition and she was currently being looked after at the Johannesburg Hospital. “We are appealing to the community to come forward with any information about the parents or any family members of the baby,” he added.
