Shoot-out in Gallo Manor

A MEMBER of the Sandton Detective Field Unit was in traffic in Gallo Manor when a silver Mercedes sped past him and drove into oncoming traffic on 6 November, at around 4.45pm.

According to spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, Captain Kim Cloete, the detective gave chase until Sunninghill, where the suspects opened fire at him, and he returned fire. The suspects’ vehicle came to a stop at the corner of Kitale Street and Kisumu Road, Sunninghill, where the three suspects fled on foot.

One suspect was fatally shot and died at the scene, and two other suspects are still at large.

The vehicle used by the suspects was found to be hijacked earlier this month in Edenvale.

Stolen property was recovered inside the vehicle.
