THE Squires Loft in Sandton introduced locals to some nostalgic dining. “This place has stood the test of time since 1977,” said executive chef and partner, Kat Aleandris. “Squires has always been involved in the communities it has operated in. In its earlier years, one of the oldest most established running clubs in Johannesburg had a longstanding relationship with the Squires Loft, as did the Wits University rowing team which has benefited from the helping hand of the group.”Since opening its Parkhurst store in November 2012, Squires has contributed to a variety of activities of local schools and organisations. They also have a policy of making provision for their staff who may need assistance under certain circumstances. Alexandris said, “Now that we have expanded our footprint into Sandton we certainly intend to continue our community involvement. We believe that when a business enters a community it is not only there to do business, it needs to become part of that community and actively support community initiatives.”
