Schoolboy robbed at gunpoint

A 14-year-old boy from Sandton View High School was robbed at gunpoint.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police, said the boy’s father informed the police that his son was walking on Maree Street from school when he was approached by five men.

“One of the suspects had a firearm,” said Maphakela. Another suspect threatened the boy with a knife and took the boy’s Blackberry cellphone worth R2 000. Maphakela said the man with the knife was known to the boy and he was found in Kew. The suspect with the firearm was arrested in Alexandra for possession of an unlicensed firearm. They are expected to appear in court soon.
