Sandton library receives upgrade

The Sandton library has been refurbished with the help of the city council.

The library received R1 million for the project.

Keith Elliot, chairperson of Friends Of The Library said the structure of the building was strengthened.

The spiral staircase tiles had been replaced and the pine floors were re-polished.

Plumbing was seen to in the bathrooms and the roof was cleared of leaks and dirt.

“The library is fortunate to have daylight to lighten the space up.

“I am very happy with everything here, even with the power cuts,” said Elliot.

Thembelihle Radebe of Group Issues Management for City of Joburg said, “The City has a maintenance plan linked to all its facilities for repairs and maintenance when the need arises.”

Elliot added that The Friends of Sandton Library were looking for donations of books.
