Smash and grabs on the increase

The Sandton police are once again warning residents about an increasing rate of smash and grabs.

According to spokesperson of the Sandton police, Captain Kym Cloete, afternoon peak hour traffic was the most common time frame for incidents.

“Any time from 5pm onwards is common for smash and grabs. Motorists are urged to carry valuables in the boots of their cars to prevent an incident,” said Cloete.

The following intersections are among the hotspots in the Sandton area at the moment:

q Any intersection with William Nicol

q Woodmead Drive, under the M3 bridge

q Main Road and Sloane Street

q Main Road and Robin Road
