Bridge the gap between innovation and education

SANDTON – EduTech explores the endless options and potential in seamlessly integrating education with technology.

Africa’s largest Edutech conference and exhibition for educators opened its doors at the Sandton Convention Centre on 9 October for a two-day event aimed at bridging the gap between innovation and education.

The sixth annual conference is aimed at sharing ideas and inspiring technological innovation in the educational sector in Africa. According to Buti Manamela, deputy minister of Higher Education and Training, this is an opportunity for South African in particular. “It is quite exciting to be part of this because it shows that we are moving in sync with what is happening around the world,” he said at the opening address.

Manamela added that the conference falls perfectly in line with the government’s outline – the upliftment of education, skills and health as well as the establishment of a better Africa. “In order for education to produce the required skills and generate economic growth in the 21st century, it must combine science, technology and innovation. It is only through pulling our resources and working together that we will succeed in harnessing technology to improve the quality of teaching and learning in our country and our continent.”

With a more interactive approached, there were a number of experience point that allowed attendees to ‘create a social, practical and emotional learning experience for teachers to implement education’.

With more than 80 businesses and start-ups represented attendees were given the opportunity to gain perspective from the experts themselves.
