Supermarket worker moonlights in crime

ALEXANDRA – Shop worker nabbed for moonlighting through car jamming

An employee of a leading supermarket chain is appearing in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for moonlighting through motor vehicle jamming.

The man was nabbed after CCTV footage showed him stealing items from a parked motor vehicle at Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton in July after tampering with it using a jamming device.

The victim with two passengers left the vehicle in secured parking and found nothing untoward on it when they returned an hour and a half later. They drove to the Sandton Mall where, when he opened the boot after parking the vehicle, he discovered that their bags each containing a laptop had vanished.

The vehicle still appeared not tampered with until they traced back their movement to the square where a security check of the footage identified the accused using the device to deactivate the locked vehicle.

The man was arrested and is also suspected for previous similar incidents.
