Explorers Group to host monthly meeting
BRYANSTON – The group will be hosting a discussion with Karmilla Pillay-Siokos who runs Slutwalk Johannesburg.

The Explorers Friendship and Chat Group will be hosting its monthly discussion in Bryanston.
The group was started to give older people the opportunity to build friendships and host a variety of speakers to engage with them. On 17 May, Karmilla Pillay-Siokos who runs Slutwalk Johannesburg will talk about creating a consent culture.
Pillay-Siokos said, “The Slutwalk Movement reawakened my passion for challenging social perceptions. Taking responsibility for raising a generation of warriors is the ultimate form of activism. I am using my personal experience as well as my academic qualifications to be the change I want to see in the world.”
“I am constantly looking for new ways to help people to reclaim their power, and in so doing to empower others. This is how we create a true culture of consent, based on love and respect.”
She will be followed by artist Penny Baillie who will talk about the upcoming Rotary Art Exhibition in Rosebank later this month.
The group will meet at 10am on 17 May. For more information contact Shelley Addis on 083 409 7927.
