IN TWEETS: Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba meets 100 young artisan students

DOORNFONTEIN – The aim of the 100 youth artisan programme is to reduce youth unemployment.

The City of Johannesburg’s Executive Mayor, Herman Mashaba, on  14 February visited the Community Capacitation of the Provision of Youth Artisan Skills project in Doornfontein.

The programme is in partnership with the City’s Department of Economic Development and the University of Johannesburg’s Process Energy and Environmental Technology Station housed in the engineering and built environment faculty.

Mashaba met with 100 young artisans – the majority of them being female students. The mayor said this was an indication that women were being liberated.

The 100 youth artisan programme’s aim is to reduce youth unemployment. Mashaba said the programme would benefit the city in ensuring that the goal of turning it into a ‘construction site’ was achieved.
