Salvation Army brass bands ready for Christmas #MyDec18
SANDTON – The Salvation Army band will be playing at malls this festive season.
With the festive season in full swing, the well-known Salvation Army bands will be out in full force in various shopping areas of the country.
The Salvation Army brass bands perform across the country to help raise money for the organisation. However, members of the public should be sure to only give funds to Salvation Army officers in uniform carrying a locked collection box.
Major Carin Holmes, the PR secretary for the Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory, said, “Our bands are always delighted to contribute to the festivities by playing carols in shopping malls. Bands must have permission from malls to do so.
“But we no longer do house-to-house collections, so members of the public should not give money to such house-to-house collectors.
“Any suspicious activity can be reported to me on 082 994 4351, and I will direct callers to the right person.”
Members of the public can also make Christmas donations directly to the Salvation Army. For more information contact safpr@saf.salvationarmy.org.
