District Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of the Transvaal donate 16-sleeper tent

Some members of the lodge handed over the tent to the Scout group on 16 November, much to the delight of the young Scouts and their troop Scouter.

 

The District Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of the Transvaal donated a 16-sleeper tent to the 1st Rivertrail Scout Group in Bryanston.

Dave Gurney, one of the members of the lodge said as a part of the Freemasons they were trying to be more open about their charitable donations. “We want people to realise that we’re part of the community and how active we are on the charity side,” he said.

Colleague David Day added that they were involved in various charitable efforts including donating more than 1 000 teddy bears to sick children and assisting in renovations at a home for the elderly.

Speaking to the Scouts, Day said, “We are delighted to be able to sponsor you this tent and on behalf of all of us we wish you many many happy hours and weekends using the tent and doing what it is that you do as Scouts.

Justin Agar, the troop Scouter for the1st Rivertrail Scout Group said when their group had big events such as Contiki or Kim Shield, the tent would be a great help. “Any big district activity we could use this as a staging post,” he said.

“We are very happy to have received this donation.”
