Artists from The Pottery Studio to host exhibition at Henry George Gallery

BRYANSTON – Ceramic artists from The Pottery Studio in Bryanston will display their artwork in an exhibition, titled Nest.

Potters from The Pottery Studio in Bryanston will be hosting an exhibition of their work at the Henry George Gallery.

Artists – including Bob Wagener, Caroline Schulz Vieira, Charleen Brunke, Claire Waters, Colleen Lehmkuhl, Dale Lambert and Lalage Hunter – will be displaying their work from 3 May until the end of the month. The exhibition, titled Nest, will open at 6pm on 3 May.

Leading and emerging local ceramicists explore the ‘hygge’ trend, with a selection of ceramic vessels made from clay, porcelain and glass with various distinctive finishes.

Artist Lalage Hunter works on her ceramics.

Curated by Darryl Gray and Amanda Walker, these works reflect a current global inclination towards ‘re-turning inward’ – to seek a cosy, pared-down and more authentic, peaceful mode of being.

From Danish culture, the word ‘hygge’ infers a state of mind that expresses a yearning for and learning to be happy with the simple things in life. The exhibition also features selected digital photographic works by Sandra Legg.

Ceramics mentor and teacher, Michelle Legg will also host two workshops for experienced and novice ceramicists alike at the gallery during the exhibition.
