Help the Bryanston River Club Community Forum upgrade Poplar Park
RIVER CLUB – Members of the community are upgrading the Poplar Park in Poplar Avenue to become more child-friendly and accommodating for the public.

The Bryanston River Club Community Forum and Poplar Park Moms are making huge strides to upgrade and refurbish the Poplar Park in Poplar Avenue, Riverclub.
Fundraising to upscale the park, situated between residential properties and Danilo’s Restaurant, began towards the end of last year. A Carols by Candlelight event brought together more than 100 community members in support of the upgrade of the park in early December last year, raising funds to put up a jungle gym, swings and other children’s play equipment.

Committee member of the forum Karen Söderholm said the team of moms and forum members, who are in the process of adopting the park, wish to make it a safe community meeting place for moms, nannies and children in the area.
“We want this park to be a place where people can get active in caring for their community,” she said.
“Through the initiatives of Poplar Park, people can get to know their neighbours and play a vital role in upgrading a community meeting place.”
The park team is also planning an Easter Picnic in the Park from 3pm until dusk on 18 March. The public is invited to support the initiative where they can hear local musicians perform and enjoy a festive social atmosphere. Food stalls will also be available and an Easter egg hunt will take place for the littlies.

The team at the park are soon to install a fence around the play area, making it safer for moms and nannies to let their children play without the concern that they will run into the road.
Members of the community are encouraged to help out in this initiative by donating indigenous plants, dustbins, old tyres, bird baths, compost and anything else they believe can be used to improve the area.
