A 35-year-old man severely burnt in fire in Illovo

SANDTON – Netcare 911 recently responded to reports of man burned in a fire.

A man (35) sustained severe burns after a fire broke out in a residential complex in Illovo Sandton.

Nick Dollman, media liaison for Netcare Limited said on 3 September at about 1am, Netcare 911 responded to reports that a man had been burnt in a fire.

“Reports from the scene alleged that the male victim had been asleep at the time and woke up when his room and bed were on fire.”

Dollman said the fire department was on the scene and controlled the blaze and initiated their investigation into the incident.

“A Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic attended to the 35-year-old man who had sustained severe burns and possible smoke inhalation injuries.” Dollman said analgesic medication was administered to reduce the man’s pain.

“He was stabilised at the scene and then transported by a Netcare 911 ambulance, under the constant care of the paramedic, to a hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.”
