Controlled rock-blasting spills over in Parkmore on 4th Street

PARKMORE - Small, controlled explosion on construction site spills over.

Emergency services, local police and the bomb squad all responded to 113 4th Street, Parkmore, in Sandton this afternoon after receiving calls of a bomb threat in the area.

Upon arrival at the scene, the teams who responded soon realised it was just a small and controlled explosion carried out by a construction company called Fanie’s Blasting that had slightly spilled over.
“We did have a permit and all the necessary members have been notified,” said a construction worker at the site.

The construction site is next to a Seikh temple in the Parkmore area. The company says they had informed the relevant authorities of the planned explosion. However, Ward 90 Councillor Martin Williams had not been made aware of the incident.
