Name and shame illegal dumpers

SANDTON – Illegal dumping continues on Sandton Drive.

Sandton resident, Julian Ortlepp is at his wits ends. Whilst driving along William Nicol Drive on 2 June, he noticed a vehicle dumping his load illegally on the corner of William Nicol and Sandton Drive.

Ortlepp is frustrated by the amount of illegal dumping in the area and decided to start taking photos.

Ortlepp said, “When I saw what he had done I decided to follow the truck that had just dumped illegally. He was driving extremely slowly, only 30km an hour, and I followed him for over an hour. During the drive I had made at least 10 phone calls to various police stations informing them of the incident and that I was following him. I followed him all the way to Vrede Dorp with no assistance from anyone.”

This follows a big clean up by Pikitup at the exact spot a few weeks back where this vehicle dumped illegally.

The vehicle that dumped waste illegally.

According to Ortlepp, the vehicle had no registration number on the front or the back. “I have to wonder if this country is actually serious about illegal dumping and the repercussions. This is unbelievable.”
