A suspect (40) has been arrested following an alleged house robbery in River Club.
Constable David Mothapo, spokesperson for Sandton Police Station said, “The suspect was arrested on 9 March at 9pm in Alexandra in connection with a house robbery that [allegedly] took place at 1pm.”
Mothapo said the victim, a 50-year-old gardener, was approached by four suspects while working at his boss’ residence. The homeowners were not present during the incident.
“One suspect was carrying a metal object wrapped in plastic and [allegedly] threatened to shoot the man. The victim was taken to the house where he was tied up with shoelaces and cable ties. The suspects [allegedly] ransacked the house and took a television, laptop, jewellery and other valuables,” said Mothapo.
According to the spokesperson, the suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

A manhunt is on for the remaining three suspects and police are urging anyone with information that could lead to their arrest to contact the Sandton Police Station.
