The St David’s Marist Inanda class of 2016 achieved an exceptional set of results in their IEB Examinations.
The class achieved a 100 per cent pass rate and a 100per cent bachelor degree pass. Mike Thiel, the Executive Headmaster of St David’s Marist Inanda said, “With 2016 being a particularly significant year in the life of St David’s, with the school having celebrated its 75th Jubilee, the Matric Class of 2016 has ended the year on a high note!”
The 111 boys in this Matric class achieved 271 distinctions across 22 subjects. This translates into an average of 2,4 distinctions per candidate.
In 13 of the subjects written, a third or more of candidates achieved a distinction, with notable distinction rates in Mathematics, Drama, History, Information Technology. Astoundingly, 100 per cent of candidates obtained distinctions for Mathematical Literacy, which had a class of 10 pupils.
The top achieving candidates produced outstanding results with three students attaining nine distinctions, five achieving eight distinctions, three achieving seven distinctions, four achieving six distinctions and 10 achieving five distinctions.
The school’s top pupils achieved a handful of distinctions.
Top student, Shane Weisz, achieved nine distinctions with 100 per cent in both Mathematics and Physical Sciences and over 94 per cent in all of his subjects. Shane was placed in the IEB Top 1 per cent listings in eight of his nine subjects. Andrea Giuricich achieved nine distinctions, with above 90 per cent in eight of these and Massimo Rizzo also achieved nine distinctions, with both boys achieving 98 per cent for Mathematics.
Four of the top achievers were named on the prestigious IEB Outstanding Achievement list. These pupils were Shane Weisz, Andrea Giuricich, Justin Hall and Nicholas Reuss, while one pupil, Joshua Clegg, was named on the IEB Commendable Achievement list.
