Strong messages from beauty queen
SANDTON – Mrs India contestant, Roshni Rajdhar, believes that charity and kindness are extremely important.
Sandton resident, Roshni Rajdhar, who was crowned second princess in the Zee Cinema Mrs India pageant, believes in beauty with a purpose.
She explained, “Mrs India South Africa is not just about glitz and glamour, but it promotes the worth of every woman.”
She is a woman who not only takes pride in herself and her family but also puts the needs of the underprivileged before her own. She described her experiences at the pageant as a ‘journey’ and added that it was important for her to embrace this opportunity and ‘enjoy the ride’.
“I am an accountant by profession, a mother to my three kids, a wife, loyal to my country and its people, and a service to God,” she said. “I learned that through my experiences which are the greatest teacher and moulder of character. People don’t care how much you know but want to feel how much you care.”
She believes that it is always important to make a difference in the lives of others. “If you look at all religions of the world it will sum up to two words – love and service. I just want to serve God, and through the favours afforded to me I will utilise it to build a better world for those that I come into contact with.”
In the article, The gift of breath, Week ending 7 October, it was reported that Rajdhar had sponsored an oxygen machine for Ayaan Bhoopal, a little boy with a heart condition. Thanks to her generous donation, Bhoopal was able to attend school.

She is also passionate about numerous community service projects. “I have an affinity to support orphanages, drugs and alcohol abuse institutions, old age homes and student bursaries to children who show potential towards an academic future and ad hoc special charity programmes. My charity work started 17 years ago and has grown each year.”
Rajdhar believes every person needs to be loved and respected. “Practise this and see how the world changes around you, irrespective of the curve balls that life throws at you.”
