WATCH: Heavy rains cause problems for Sandton residents

SANDTON - Residents have had trees fallen over on to their homes and flash floods to deal with this past week.

Following another night of storms, the suburb of Sandton suffered some damage from the down pour.

A resident in Bryanston was woken in the middle of the night from more than just the crackling of thunder and lightning.

Di Vickers experienced an inconvenience when he woke up in the middle of the night to find a tree in his yard had fallen over on to his house.

Vickers said, “Luckily there was no injuries. The tree blew over in the storm in the middle of the night. The roots from the tree also damaged a water pipe on my property as well.”

The much spoken about, closed, Belgrave bridge also suffered some damage from the storm.

This morning, motorists had to brave the wet road, traffic and faulty traffic lights in Sandton as well.

The storm from Wednesday evening also left residents mopping up.
