JOBURG - We asked local residents what their views were on the current state of the nation and how they feel government is managing the ongoing student protests.
Beth Mcgreggor: I think South Africa is in a very sensitive space at the moment. If our leaders don't come to the party we might be in serious trouble.
Here’s what they had to say…
Innocence Khubeka: I am very nervous about the country’s future. The young people of this country need to play a positive role in the development of South Africa.
Meir Semesh: Our leadership has failed us time and time again. It is time for drastic change or I fear we might end up like Zimbabwe or even worse, Syria.
Philile Msemang: I hope that our leaders can focus on what is really important and not just to line their pockets with our money. The student crisis is symbolic of the state of the nation.
Sam Nnamani: I support the students’ fight for free education, but not the destruction of property. Our leaders seem to be distracted with their own problems and are not focusing on the real issues.
Sarah Cooper: I feel that South Africa is at a crossroad. We have to make difficult decisions, but I feel in the end that South Africa will always come out on top no matter who tries to bring it down.
