BREAKING NEWS: One student arrested at Wits University protest

JOHANNESBURG - There has been a massive security presence on the Wits University campus with at least one student arrest.

Following vice chancellor Adam Habib’s announcement that classes at Wits University will resume on 4 October, protests have erupted on the main campus.

Students and staff have hidden in the Matrix building as several stun grenades have been fired by the police and private security.

This protest follows Adam Habib’s announcement that if the university does not open now, they will have no choice but to close for the year, which will affect this year’s academic programme as well as next year’s.
