Brands partner to bring Standard Bank Youth Expo to life

ROSEBANK – Read how Standard Bank and Branded Youth partner up to help aspiring young entrepreneurs and the youth to realise their dreams.

Banking giant, Standard Bank, together with Branded Youth, came together recently to launch the inaugural Standard Bank Youth Expo set to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in August.

The launch took place in Rosebank and saw students and pupils from various schools and high schools around Gauteng present.

Also at the launch was Bradley Maseko, managing director of Branded Youth, who talked about the partnership with Standard Bank to bring the initiative to life.

“There’s a greater need for brands and organisations to engage with the youth of South Africa to ensure that they are educated and empowered for the future. We, therefore, designed the Standard Bank Youth Expo as a platform that will fully cater to this,” Maseko said.

“Through the partnership, we hope to create the largest interactive platform for young people as a way to engage with and educate them.”

Furthermore, the two partners will host a roadshow leading up to the expo in May, and this will include visits to 18 schools and 15 tertiary institutions across Gauteng. The purpose of the roadshow will be to create awareness of the expo, highlighting some of the benefits of attending, as well as pre-registering for those interested in going.

Motlatsi Mkalala, customer financial solutions senior manager of Standard Bank, explained the importance of brands such as Standard Bank and investing in such initiatives. “With the unemployment rate as high as it is, it is important to invest in entrepreneurs because we believe that small businesses are where employment is created,” Mkalala said.

He added that the expo was a way to equip young entrepreneurs with the right skills and that young people would leave the expo with the practical skills needed for their ideas and future businesses.

Mkalala concluded by expressing hope that the expo would expand to empower more young people and said that people attending can look forward to an interactive and empowering expo.

The Standard Bank Youth Expo will be held from 6 to 7 August and will run as a career exhibition and youth conference with the aim of inspiring and assisting South Africa’s future leaders and entrepreneurs by offering them access to networks, organisations and information that will have a valuable impact on their professional journeys.
