The Sandton Chronicle published an article regarding a burst pipe on the corner of Sandton and Grayston drives on 20 April.
This pipe burst on 19 April and the matter went unreported until a Sandton Chronicle journalist reported it to Johannesburg Water on 20 April.
Geologist Michele Marrow highlighted, “We should be mindful of the fact that we have low winter rainfall so we should not be depleting our water.”
Eleanor Mavimbela, external communications officer of Johannesburg Water did, however, stress on 20 April that, “The time it takes to fix a pipe depends on the size of the pipe, how deep the pipe is as well as the damage. Therefore, we consider if it needs to be replaced entirely or if it is just a section that needs to be replaced.”
The wait continues and the water continues to flow.
