Garth Taylor-made for success

In the ever-changing music industry, Garth Taylor is one of the few constants with over 17 years of experience and now he is back with his fourth – and much anticipated – studio album, Made. He will launch the album at Kazy’s in Rosebank on 20 April.

“I’ve had an incredible time making this album,” said Taylor.

“Fans have been asking for the new material – these songs are fresh and very special to me.”

Made is a 10-track album jam-packed with original, soulful pop and RnB hits and is available to purchase on iTunes.

Taylor added that he is excited to hear what his fans think about the new sound. “While it was tracks such as Why and Try that put me on the map, I really think that the new material will take me to new heights.”

Taylor already has a string of smash hits on the radio and has been on the music scene since 1998 when he topped the radio charts for five consecutive weeks with Why, and this song is still regarded as a timeless classic. Other popular singles such as Only With You, Tonight, Home Again, If I Gave You My Soul, Islands in the Stream (a duet with Melanie Lowe) and Try.

He is a South African Music Awards-nominated singer and songwriter and is a multi-talented, self-taught artist who writes all his own music and lyrics, as well as plays a selection of instruments, from keyboards, guitar, and bass to drums and the saxophone. Taylor also expands his creativity further into production, engineering and mixing.

Taylor has shared the stage with a number of premier international and local artists including Simply Red, Shaggy, Jonathan Butler, Mandoza, TK, Lebo Mathosa and the late Brenda Fassie.

Despite his success, he has remained humble at heart and has used his celebrity status to raise much-needed awareness and funds for foundations which support cancer research. As a victim of child abuse himself, Taylor is also actively involved in charities for abused women and children.
