Sandton business turbocharged by global giant
SANDTON – After a BBC Worldwide investment, Rapid Blue in Craighall is uplifting the community and creating employment.
Global media giant, BBC Worldwide has invested in Craighall-based independent South African production company, Rapid Blue.
Besides a monetary investment, the BBC will also assist in expanding Rapid Blue and grow the brand.
Managing director and executive producer of Rapid Blue, Kee-Leen Irvine, explained the positive effects that this investment would have. She said it would create employment in the long term and help the production company to develop more local shows and, in so doing, promote local talent.
“This proves that if you stay focused and dynamic, driving a quality product, maintaining deep insight into your market and continue to innovate, you will always be a partner and service provider of value,” said Irvine.
“Naturally foreign investment in South Africa is hugely advantageous to our local economy but also, once a global company has invested, they connect to you in a much more meaningful way. They are not just buying a product from you anymore, but are now also interested in your future success and will support you to achieve it. It is like having your business turbocharged.”
Irvine gave advice to aspiring entrepreneurs. “Know your product, know your customer, know the market conditions,” she said.
“Make sure you provide a quality offering. Be prepared to work hard. Constantly strive to be on top of new developments in your field locally and internationally and make innovation the name of the game.”
She concluded by saying that leading by example was of utmost importance and that one should always value their most valuable asset – human capital.
