15 injured after taxi rolls on M1 highway

WYNBERG - A serious taxi collision on the M1 South at the Grayston Drive off-ramp left 15 passengers injured on the evening of 29 January, just before 6pm.

EMER-G-MED Paramedics arrived on the scene and found passengers lying on the highway. The taxi was found on its roof. It is alleged that the driver lost control and the taxi rolled.

There were 13 passengers who sustained minor to moderate injuries, while a further two passengers sustained serious injuries that required Advanced Life Support care.

“The patients were treated on-scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals for further management by EMER-G-MED as well as other services,” said EMER-G-MED spokesperson Max Cohen.

“Metro police were on-scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision.”
