Armed robber walks off with R17 000 cash in Rivonia

RIVONIA – A woman carrying a bag containing R17 000 in cash was robbed at gunpoint on 13 February in Rivonia.

The victim, who does not wish to be named, said she was about to bank the money when a man approached her. “He grabbed my arm and reached for my bag,” explained the victim.

“I resisted until I saw that he had a gun.”

She said the man grabbed the bag from her and walked away. He was joined by another man and they got into a white Toyota and drove off.

The victim said she asked a security guard who witnessed the incident why he didn’t assist her. “He said he [had been] threatened and told to look away or else he would be shot,” said the victim.

He said one of the suspects had a light complexion and wore jeans.
