Tara Hospital embraces Heritage Month
HURLINGHAM - Tara Hospital staff members recently enjoyed their Heritage Month celebration in high style.
“It was the best celebration ever and the event comprised a number of different competitions,” explained Sibusiso Chauke, the hospital’s communications officer. He said staff member, Winnie Vukeya, was chosen as the best-dressed. She was dressed in her traditional Tsonga outfit known as xibelani.
Chauke added that there was also a best cook category that the men at the hospital dominated.
“Heritage is also about what has been passed on from the family,” said Chauke.
“All cultures at the heritage event were represented. Staff members danced in their traditional attire and listened to indigenous music and played indigenous games as well.”
The event was made up of many diverse cultures representing Tsonga, Zulu, Sotho, Pedi, Ndebele, Venda, Tswana, Xhosa, Swati, English, Indian and Afrikaaners.
