Woman found with 150 Mandrax tablets at Leeuwkop Prison

SUNNINGHILL – A 30-year-old female visitor was bust for possession of drugs at Leeuwkop Prison in Sunninghill.

 

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Sandton police, said the suspect was caught during a body search of visitors to the prison.

“When questioned, the female suspect alleged that she received the drugs from the male partner she came with,” added Maphakela.

Ofentse Morwane, Gauteng Correctional Services communications officer, confirmed that the incident occurred at Leeuwkop Prison. “A woman was found with 150 mandrax tablets in her possession during a search at the time of a visitation to offenders at Leeuwkop Medium C,” he explained.

“The matter was immediately reported to the Sandton police and the woman was arrested.”

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
