Alleged attempted hijacking caught on camera

MARLBORO - It is alleged that two men attempted to hijack a woman's vehicle in Marlboro on 18 September.

Photographer for The Citizen, Alaister Russell caught the incident on camera. He said he saw a man pointing a gun at woman driver who was trying to enter a filling station in Marlboro. He said a woman then alighted from her vehicle and “engaged in an altercation with the hijackers”.

It is believed that the hijackers could not get the car, a white Mercedes, into gear and then fled the scene on foot after stealing a cell phone and spare key.

It is believed no one was harmed in the incident.

It is unclear whether the incident was reported to police. Sandton Chronicle will update once police comment is received.

Many people have taken to social media to find the wanted suspects and to alert others about the incident.
