Hot caterers make food fantasies come true

RIVONIA – A South African chef has taken his food out of the restaurant and started #HotCaterers, a catering and events company.

Chef Franz de Waal launched #HotCaterers at Room Five in Rivonia where he invited guests to enjoy his food. He said the new business venture would allow the modern consumer to decide exactly what it was they wanted to eat.

“I want to fulfill people’s food fantasies, I want them to be part of the brand, to guide me as to what they want and I would like to give customers a willow tree of options,” he explained.

He also said he wanted his food to raise people’s serotonin levels, to make them smile as they eat, to put them in a state of bliss. De Waal will be bringing modern cuisine into the 21st century in a way that incorporates social media as a modern branding tool. He is renowned for his innovative menus and he is now going to be bringing food to the digital age.

With this in mind, self-trained De Waal has created a modern menu that will change as the availability of fresh produce changes. “If food is to bring the diner true happiness, it has to look as appealing as it tastes,” he added.
