Van der Burgh breaks breaststroke record

SA swimmer Cameron van der Burgh set a new world record for the 50m breaststroke at the Fina World Championships in Russia today.

The 27-year-old swam a time of 26.62 seconds to equal Adam Peaty’s time, however, Peaty’s time has not been ratified.

Compatriots Chad le Clos and Sebastian Rousseau are through to the men’s 200m butterfly semi-finals, and will be in action tomorrow.
