This follows efforts by the entity to effectively deal with illegal dumping across the city and to divert recyclables away from landfill sites.
The service was rolled out on 8 March and residents are urged to contact a Pikitup depot and arrange to have the waste removed. This includes old mattresses, old furniture, fridges and any other bulky household waste.
Once a resident has logged a call at any of the Pikitup depots, the manager will then book a call and arrange for the service to collect the waste.
To book a free bulky waste service, residents can contact the following depots:
- Norwood Depot: 087 357 1400
- Marlboro Depot: 087 357 1545
- Midrand Depot: 087 357 1378
- Randburg Depot: 087 357 1327
