Spokesperson for the school Avril Wright said, “Her kindness, energy, patience and very dry sense of humour has been admired over the years as well as her generous support of the many charities close to her heart.”
Wright added that Thomson had seen thousands of pupils pass through her classes since she began teaching at the school in 1972. “She has invested her entire working career into the education system, and given so much to our school and the pupils fortunate to have been through her classes.”
The school welcomes Judith Koch to fill the position of deputy head. Koch was previously at Kingsmead College.
