Domestic Watch meetings save two workers during incident

SANDTON - Two women were saved from a potentially dangerous situation due to attending Domestic Watch meetings.

This occurred after two domestic workers allegedly had ‘muti’ applied on their arms by a woman.

Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton police, said a woman approached the two women and after rubbing black ‘stuff’ on their arms, another person approached them insisting they report the incident.

“After the man insisted the two women to report the incident to the police, a Polo arrived and two guys flashed a police card, saying they were policemen,” she said.

One of the women, who regularly attends meetings, recognised that the card was fake and as she tried to take down the vehicle registration number, the car sped off.

Cloete also cautioned employers and their workers to remain vigilant about suspicious-looking individuals.

“Contact the police immediately should you come across such an incident and attend Domestic Watch meetings to remain informed on current crime trends,” she said.
