Bryanston in the dark after explosion at sub-station
BRYANSTON - ER24 paramedics, the fire department and City Power officials attended to an explosion at the Bryanston sub-station on 29 November at around 7pm.

The sub-station is located on the corner of Hobart and West Hertfort roads in Bryanston. City Power said Mill Hill, River Club, Morningside, New Brighton, Solridge, Country Life Park and the surrounding areas in Bryanston were serviced by the sub-station and as a result these areas had no power. City Power technicians were on the scene to restore power to these areas. No time frames were indicated for when the power would be restored.
ER24 paramedics said on Twitter that when they arrived on the scene, the substation was still on fire. They said the fire department extinguished the blaze and City Power engineers attended to the problem.
It was not clear how or why the substation caught alight. ER24 paramedics said no injuries were reported.
Some Bryanston residents took to Twitter to complain that there was no power.
The explosion comes amid the implementation of load-shedding.
