Senzo Meyiwa’s alleged killer appears in court

BECCLEUCH - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed that a suspect appeared in court, in connection with the tragic murder of Buccleuch resident, Senzo Meyiwa.

This is despite denials from both national and provincial police, who earlier claimed they did not have a suspect in custody.

According to The Citizen, NPA spokesperson, Nathi Mncube said the suspect had been arrested in connection with the murder and robbery of the Bafanna Bafanna captain. Mncube named the suspect, saying  Zanokuhle Mbatha (25) appeared in Boksburg Magistrates Court briefly on 31 October.

The Citizen maintained, police spokesperson Brigadier Neville Malila and Limpopo police spokesperson Ronel Otto, knew nothing of the arrest.

Meyiwa was shot and killed at his girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo’s house on 26 October.
