According to weather forecaster of South African Weather Services, Christina Thaele residents and motorists should take extra precautions when leaving their homes and offices.

“We are expecting a 60 percent chance of showers and thundershowers this afternoon. We have issued a watch out for possible severe thunderstorms with strong winds and large amounts of small hailstones,” she said.

Emergency services said they were not on high alert for floods and were unaware of possible severe thunderstorms.
